Pozzallo Pirates: In the little town of Ostend, locals wake up to the sight of 18 coffins with nametags on their shoreline. Inspired by the funeral of 18 migrants/boat refugees in the city of Pozzallo in Sicily, the installation is accompanied by testimonies from migrants from a range of countries. “They have knives and firearms, it’s useless to resist. They can kill you at any time, or throw you overboard”, says Sultan who came from Palestine by boat.
Belgian activists and migrants came together to make a controversial installation on a beach in Belgian. With compelling testimonies from boat survivors this report explores the impact of their work.
