The ISS has a life boat in case of emergencies. The Russian Soyuz spacecraft.
The ISS is in constant freefall. Speed and thrust are used to maintain its orbit.
Astronauts typically stay on the ISS for six months.

The ISS produces its own oxygen via Electrolysis: splitting water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen. (The water is sourced from water on the station, including urine, sweat, and water used in bathing. It is then filtered onboard for reuse, and creating oxygen)
