About: Troubled Water
Troubled Water: This documentary searches for the solution in Kathmandu valley, where poor people struggle with a limited supply to clean water, while costs exceed affordability. Once considered an unlimited resource, the water in Kathmandu Valley has reached a critical level as ponds dry up and population driven demand increases. Pollution, social, political and management conflicts have become the norm as the source of water ‘Sundari Jal’ can only fulfill 20% of the demand.
Nearby slums have no other option than to use contaminated water from the stagnant Bagmati amd support rivers which suffer from drainage issues. Government action is slow to resolve the crisis as political activists rebel by destroying water management resources.
