Singabantu (We are Human) is an Afrophobia Awareness short film shot in the remains of a house in Rosettenville, Johannesburg, South Africa that was set alight and burnt to the ground by disgruntled residents during service delivery protests that turned into Afrophobic attacks in 2017. Singabantu (We are Human) is the winner of the “I am Migrant” award at the 2017/18 United Nations Alliance of Civilizations Plural + Youth Migration Awards. It has been screened in 30 countries on 4 continents. It is a call for peace and tolerance, in a country plagued by the periodic attacks on African migrants, asylum seekers, refugees and stateless people. It also aims to bring migrants and locals together in safe spaces for dialogue.
